Ethics Education is Crucial — Here’s how you can be a part of it

As a physician who is new to practice, this Symposium was invaluable to me. In addition to giving me a forum to discuss and contend with challenging topics, it provided me with new friendships and connections across Canada. I leave the Symposium inspired and hopeful for the future direction of medicine and our country.

Bioethics Symposium Participant, 2024

Every day, physicians across Canada are facing complex ethical decisions, often under pressure, often without clear support.

A patient asks about assisted death.

A colleague raises concerns on a matter of conscience.

A medical student wonders how to practice with integrity while ascending in professional respect.

Ethics is not about abstract cases, but rather about how to live the gritty and real moments that most require clarity, courage, and compassion.

This is why the Canadian Physicians for Life Bioethics Symposium matters.

Support Physicians in the Moments That Matter Most

The Bioethics Symposium brings together physicians, medical students, and thought leaders who are committed to practicing medicine with integrity, especially in our challenging ethical climate in Canada.

Through thoughtful presentations, real-world case discussions, and meaningful dialogue, the symposium equips participants to:

  • Navigate end-of-life care with compassion and clarity
  • Understand and uphold conscience rights in practice
  • Engage the ethical challenges in mental health care and suicide prevention
  • Support one another in a community grounded in shared values

From Education to Impact

When a physician leaves the symposium better prepared, the impact doesn’t stop there.

It reaches the patient who receives more compassionate care.

It supports the medical student who chooses to practice with integrity.

It strengthens a healthcare culture that values dignity, even in difficult situations.

Your support helps make this possible.

It helps ensure that physicians and students across Canada have access to formation, mentorship, and community when they need it most.

Our next Symposium will take place in Calgary, May 7th – 9th 2026. The theme is “And So My Life Is Good”: A Bioethics Symposium on Mental Health.

Why Your Support Matters

Healthcare in Canada is changing quickly. Ethical challenges are becoming more complex, and many professionals feel isolated in navigating them.

The Bioethics Symposium creates space for thoughtful, grounded, and respectful engagement.

But this work depends on a community of supporters who believe it matters.

Be Part of This Work

Please make a gift today to support the Bioethics Symposium and the life-affirming medical students and physicians it cultivates and serves.

Your support helps ensure that no physician has to navigate these challenges alone.
