Together We Are Humanizing Healthcare

Healthcare practitioners and students across Canada are facing difficult questions and challenging ethical dilemmas  surrounding patient care, human dignity, moral conscience, and professional judgment. For more than 50 years, Canadian Physicians for Life has supported physicians, medical students, and other Canadians working to uphold ethical, compassionate health care that respects every human life.

Your support helps fund:

  • mentoring programs for future health care leaders,
  • bioethics education and conferences
  • physician ethics support services
  • public advocacy for vulnerable patients and families
  • and, a confidential Case Consult Service and Crisis Line for healthcare professionals navigating complex ethical and professional dilemmas.

Together, we are building a culture of health care that affirms human dignity and shows compassion to every person.

What do I need to know about you as a person to give you the best care possible?”

Dr. Harvey Chochinov

“The calling and the conduct of the doctor is care for others, and the meeting of doctor and patient is a supreme occasion for being human.”

Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel

“You matter because you are you. You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die.”

Dame Cicely Saunders

“The secret is not to be afraid of [powerlessness] – not to run away. The dying know that we are not God… All they ask is that we do not desert them.”
