Annual Conference Speaker Steven Umbrello

One speaker we are exceptionally excited to be bringing to speak at the CPL Annual Conference this October is Steven Umbrello. He specializes in the intersection of ethics and technology and his research interests include digital humanism and Value Sensitive Design (VSD).

The relationship between artificial intelligence and medicine is complex and demands ethical reflection on what this means for our humanity.

Steven Umbrello is Canadian. He earned degrees in Philosophy of Science and Technology (University of Toronto), Science and Technology Studies (York University), and Epistemology, Ethics, and Mind (University of Edinburgh), culminating in a PhD focused on the ethics and design of military AI from the Northwestern Italian Philosophy Consortium.

Steven will be speaking on:

Encoded Values: How Design Choices in Medical AI Shape Human Flourishing

I am confident that you find him an engaging and important speaker who will deepen your reflection and strengthen your practice.
